Who we are?
Sunrise Foundation is a community-focused, non-profit organization established on 1st February 2022 in Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania. It is formally registered under Society Act No. 6 of 1995 with the Registration Number 00000. Since its inception, the Foundation has been dedicated to uplifting marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved groups through holistic, sustainable, and inclusive community development initiatives.
Mission
To build and develop a self-reliant and empowered society by equipping individuals and communities with appropriate resources, practical skills, relevant knowledge, and strong capacities. The organization is committed to promoting inclusive participation, sustainable livelihoods, and social responsibility in order to improve quality of life and create long-term positive change for present and future generations.
Vision
A just, inclusive, and empowered society free from poverty, stigma, and ignorance, where all people have equal access to essential social services and opportunities. A society in which every individual understands and exercises their rights and responsibilities, actively contributing to sustainable development, social harmony, and collective well-being.
Areas of Focus
The Foundation supports access to quality education by providing school materials, scholarships, and sponsorships to children from disadvantaged households. Special attention is given to orphans, vulnerable children (OVC), and HIV-positive learners to promote school retention, literacy, and academic success.
The Foundation promotes healthy communities through medical outreach, health camps, and awareness programs. Interventions focus on improving access to clean and safe water, promoting proper nutrition and hygiene practices, and raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, mental health, and stigma reduction.
The Foundation supports sustainable urban development by promoting clean and healthy environments. Activities include community sanitation initiatives, waste management awareness, and environmental conservation programs aimed at improving living conditions in urban and peri-urban areas.
The Foundation empowers individuals and households by building their knowledge, skills, and capacities for economic independence. Programs focus on livelihood development, resilience building, and strengthening community awareness on rights, responsibilities, and active civic participation.
In response to emerging and specific community needs, the Foundation implements emergency relief initiatives, women and youth empowerment programs, advocacy for inclusive access to social services, and strategic partnerships with government institutions and NGOs to maximize impact.
